South Dakota Bar Exam
The South Dakota Bar Exam assesses whether or not a candidate is competent to practice law in South Dakota.
For its bar exam, South Dakota requires completion of two parts.
The first portion of the South Dakota Bar Exam is the Multistate Bar Examination, or the MBE. The MBE is administered twice annually; once on the last Wednesday in February and again on the last Wednesday in July.
The second portion of the South Dakota Bar Exam tests candidates on unique aspects of South Dakota's laws. The state specific portion of the South Dakota bar examination is administered in essay format.
