West Virginia Bar Exam

The West Virginia Bar Exam assesses whether or not a candidate is competent to practice law in West Virginia.

For its bar exam, West Virginia requires completion of two parts.

The first portion of the West Virginia Bar Exam is the Multistate Bar Examination, or the MBE. The MBE is administered twice annually; once on the last Wednesday in February and again on the last Wednesday in July.

The second portion of the West Virginia Bar Exam tests candidates on unique aspects of West Virginia's laws. The state specific portion of the West Virginia bar examination is administered in essay format.
