Why do I need to take a supplemental review course?

A majority of law school graduates preparing for the bar exam enroll in a comprehensive course, such as Bar/Bri or Kaplan PMBR, which prepares you for all aspects of the Bar Exam. AdaptiBar is dedicated to preparing you specifically for the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) portion of the exam, and is a necessary addition to your comprehensive course. Supplementing your comprehensive course with AdaptiBar gives you a significant advantage over those who rely solely on the overview of the MBE preparation provided by their comprehensive course which often times is not adequate. There are two major reasons for this. First, AdaptiBar uses only authentic, licensed MBE questions; no simulated questions like most courses, so you know that you are studying with the most test relevant material available. Second, AdaptiBar is the only program that applies patented technology that truly adapts to you by learning your weak areas and emphasizing them so you spend time studying where you need the most work. What is the bar passage rate for AdaptiBar students?

We focus specifically on the MBE portion of the exam and are unable to influence how our users perform on other parts of the exam (essays, MPT. etc.). Therefore, we are unable to give you an accurate bar passage rate. We can, however, tell you that the overall accuracy rate you achieve in the AdaptiBar program is proven to be a highly accurate prediction of how you will score on the actual exam. Prepare with AdaptiBar and you’ll eliminate stress and know exactly where you stand before you go into the exam.

How does AdaptiBar help improve my exam-taking skills?

AdaptiBar improves your skills in many ways. The MBE requires you to answer 200 multiple-choice questions in 6 hours. That gives you 1.8 minutes (1 minute and 48 seconds) per question. As you prepare for exam day, AdaptiBar tracks and reports your optimal time in each subject so that you learn to work at a rate that will not only allow you to finish on time, but finish with the highest accuracy rate.

Additionally, the program helps you find the pace that works for you. Using innovative and patented technology, AdaptiBar evaluates your response time in relation your accuracy rate and calculates your "sweet spot", or the speed at which you answer most accurately. For example, you might get 80% correct if you take 1.6 minutes per question, but only 50% correct if you rush through at 1.3 minutes per question. This feedback helps refine your internal timing.

Can AdaptiBar prepare me for the California Baby Bar (FYLSE)?

Absolutely. The AdaptiBar Baby Bar program concentrates on the three areas of law tested on the exam: Contacts, Criminal Law (excluding Constitutional Protection of Accused Persons), and Torts. Just like the full MBE program, the Baby Bar program adapts to your strengths and weaknesses and provides you with detailed subject performance and timing analysis.

Do I get books when I enroll?

No, AdaptiBar is entirely online. No need to lug around heavy books. With AdaptiBar you can study anytime anywhere, and you benefit from real-time performance feedback and program updates.

How do I access AdaptiBar?

After enrolling, you may log in at www.adaptibar.com. Click the Login to AdaptiBar button in the upper right hand corner of the page. This is how you will log in every time you are using a regular computer or laptop. If you would like to log in to the program from a mobile device, simply go to adaptibar.mobi in your mobile internet browser. You must have an internet connect to access the program on a computer, as well as a mobile device.

Can I split the program with a friend and share the password?

AdaptiBar is designed around your individual studying needs. That means that if you use the program and then stop and let your friend pick up where you left off, the adaptive nature of the program gets thrown out of whack. Everyone has different levels of proficiency in different subjects. Although AdaptiBar is the most advanced product on the market, it still isn't smart enough to know the difference between you and your friend.

Will AdaptiBar work on a Mac?

Yes, AdaptiBar will work on any computer that has an Internet connection and the most recent internet browser.

What internet browser works best with AdaptiBar?

AdaptiBar should function properly with all major internet browsers. If you are using a PC, we recommend the most recent version of Internet Explorer. If you are using a Mac, we recommend Firefox.

What is AdaptiBar’s recommended preparation method?

How does AdaptiBar work in conjunction with a comprehensive course, e.g. BarBri?

The AdaptiBar program is completely customizable and the perfect supplement to any comprehensive bar review course. Match what you are studying in your bar review course to the questions you practice in AdaptiBar. In Practice Question mode, you pick the subject(s) (e.g. Contracts) to include and the program determines which subtopics within the subject(s) are presented to you based on your current studying needs. This is where the adaptive technology comes in to play. In Practice Exam mode, you can pinpoint subject(s) as well as specific subtopics (e.g. Negligence) and the program creates a customized exam based on your selections, not your accuracy rates as in Practice Question mode.

Additionally, once you diagnose your weak subjects and/or subtopics in AdaptiBar, you can then go back into your comprehensive course outlines and brush up on those areas.

Does AdaptiBar include video lectures?

AdaptiBar is currently in the process of beta testing online video lectures as an optional upgrade to the program. We hope for this addition to become a permanent feature in the near future and will keep you posted on our progress.

 MBE Questions
Who writes the exam questions in AdaptiBar?

Absolutely all of the questions in the AdaptiBar database were written by the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE). The NCBE is the organization that writes the questions for the MBE portion of the Bar Exam. This differentiates AdaptiBar from every other product of its kind on the market. Other bar exam review courses either

a) Employ people to write questions that attempt to simulate those appearing on the Bar; or
b) Mix NCBE-authored questions with a majority of simulated questions.

AdaptiBar licenses previous MBE questions as well as their answers directly from the NCBE, so you know that you are always preparing with the most relevant practice questions. In addition, every question you see in AdaptiBar is accompanied by a detailed explanation written by legal expects for why A, B, C, and D were correct or incorrect. Our full-time legal staff members are constantly reviewing the questions to make sure that they reflect the same form and content of those you will see on the upcoming exam. We are fully aware of the MBE question changes that were put in place by the NCBE in 2009. For example, effective starting with the July 2009 exam, there are no longer any “K-type” questions on the exam (Roman numerals in complex answer choices, e.g., I is true, but II and III are not true). Rest assured, you can always trust the AdaptiBar database.

Why don't I just buy the same questions from the NCBE for less money than AdaptiBar?

You can! Except that when you buy the questions from the NCBE, they don't come with the explanations of why each answer is correct or incorrect. Therefore, you can practice with the questions, but if you get one wrong, you will have to figure out why on your own. That's the wrong way to study and takes up valuable time.

How many MBE questions do I have access to? What happens if I finish all of the available questions?

AdaptiBar’s database consists of 1,433 questions - the entire universe of available questions from the NCBE. You may answer these questions over as many times as you’d like. Once you finish all of the questions in a particular subject area, they will begin to repeat. If you have the Message Center enabled, you will receive a message notifying you when this happens. (AdaptiBar’s Baby Bar prep program consists of 702 questions in the three MBE subjects tested on the FYLSE only.)

How do you apply a discount code?

Only one discount or referral code can be applied per new enrollment. Enter the code in the Discount Code field on the left side of the enrollment page. No discount codes apply to re-enrollments or MBE flashcards. If you had entered a code when registering for the free trial, that code will automatically be applied when you enroll using the same email address. If you prefer to use an alternative code, delete the existing code and enter the code you wish to use. Discount codes must be applied at the initial time of enrollment.

When is my AdaptiBar program session active? When will it expire?

When you enroll, you select the program session corresponding with your bar exam date. The AdaptiBar program session access periods are outlined below:

If you attempt to login after your session has expired, you will be promoted to re-enroll at the reduced rate of $195.

I did not pass the previous exam, how much is it to re-enroll in another session?

Past AdaptiBar users may enroll in another session for the reduced rate of only $195. To re-enroll, simply login using your previous account information and click the “Buy Now” button prompting you to re-enroll at the reduced rate. No discount or referral codes apply to re-enrollments.

I did not pass the previous exam, do I quality for the Satisfaction Guarantee?

My friend sent me a referral email, how do I apply the referral code?

If your friend referred you to AdaptiBar, the system will automatically apply your friend’s referral code to the Discount Code field when you enroll. Just make sure to use the email address that the referral email was sent to. If you were referred by multiple people, you must enter the code you wish to apply manually. Only one referral or discount code can be applied per new enrollment.

I referred my friend to AdaptiBar who enrolled in AdaptiBar. When will I receive the referral commission check?

Referral commission checks are sent out each month for the previous months enrollments. For example, if someone enrolled using your referral code in June, you can expect to see your referral commission check mid to late July. Please make sure to fill out and send in a W-9 form.
